Dang - went to do a clean install of BF1942 to try the Galactic Conquest mod, and my #2 CD has a crack from the centre hole onto the data portion:(

I've contacted EAs UK support desk, to see if the can replace the disc........

I'm very mad. I can't play BF1942 until I get a new disc:mad:

you know, ***Edited by SpeeDj - It is illegal according to the EULA***, if you own the game that isnt illegal, jsut get the install from there, and use your own cd-key. problem solved :)

RDD, this is why you make CD backups and keep your originals in a safe-box somewhere. :p

acually it ISNT illegal, if he owns the cds its perfectly legal. and he would just use the cd-key that came with the one he bought.

NOThelagak is right, it would be legal. That's the excuse a lot of these image distribution sites use to remain up. As long as they have a disclaimer up some where that says "You must own the program / game to be able to legally download the image".

I was under the impression you needed to make the image yourself from your own copy

At any rate, hope you get a legal replacement somehow.

Downloading anything from anywhere regardless typically is not legal, read your EULA, I am sure it will state that for product replacement you are to contact them and send them verification of ownership. I will also ask that you NOT reference illegal activities again. Thanks! :)

you all probably know this already but ill say it anyways

Never put a cracked CD in your drive no matter what! even if it still works. Unless you dont want that drive anymore becuase now that they spin at like 52X, the outside edge of the disk spins at over 300MPH and is put under something like 20 G's or even more. So, any type of CD imperfection will make the disk explode and your drive wont be happy

speed, read the millenium act! it says that it is perfectly fine to make copies, and download copies of any software that you own. it is also legal to download software you DO NOT own as long as you delete it within 24 hours. now, im not trying to tell ppl to go out and get all the games they want for free, i think that it total bs, but this kid cracked his cd, ive been there, and there is nothing wrong with downloading something he already owns. if he dls a copy of the game, it doesnt come with a cd-key. thats the kicker, he would use the key from his old cd, the one that broke. thats wut makes this all so touchy, ppl using keygens and such to steal cd-keys. not some poor kid that spent his hard earned money on one of the greatest games of all time, just to be a clutz and crack the cd.

ok, /end rant

speed, im sorry im just pointing out that wut i was saying in NOT illegal. so im not "reference illegal activities" i know the rules of the forum.
ok, subject is dropped.
