If so share your opinions on its performance and any other aspects please.

I'm using the Zalman. Dropped my temps by 10c. YMMV. No problems at all.

Zalman 7000cu for me is about 2 deg C higher than an SLK800 with a 36cfm TMD fan, but, it is noticeably quieter, and worth the tradeoff in performance. It is more cumbersome to remove and re-install, but overall worth the effort if it will be a install-and-leave assignment. It is also pretty hefty pricewise, but I just dropped $65 for a SLK900a and Panaflo 92mm fan, so who am I to talk prices?

I have it running on a P4 and overall am very pleased with the performance and noise level. It's staying in this box.

I have the AlCu version and am very happy with it. Even with the fan running at full speed it is very quiet and has dropped my load temps somewhere between 5 and 8C. Idle temps are about the same.

Now the problem is that I can hear my tiny little high RPM NB fan whinning. Anyone have any recommendations on a quiet NB fan for the Intel 865 chipet?

But with the ic7 who knows? it did drop my load temps by quite a bit than the stock hsf wit paste. I think i should try re applying as3 soon. I have a temp probe on the bottom of the sink and the highesst it reads is 107F with no AC and after a few hours of CS

I have a friend that has the zalman 7000cu, he says his temps dropped over 5 degrees. Also the sound is less than the retail fan that he had on his P4.

I bought the Zalman 7000cu mainly for the quiet factor, and it delivers! I am using the slowest speed setting for my P4 2.53 system, and it keeps things cool AND quiet. If you're Overclocking, the fan isn't that loud at higher settings either. It was easy to install, although screwing it to the Motherboard takes a little bit of effort on a P4. Just make sure you screw one side a little, then the other, and keep switching. It lowered my temps a few degrees. I know this is not the most important thing, but it looks fantastic in the case. :)

My friend also has the AlCu. His temps are about 3°C lower than stock fan on a P4-2.6C. Main thing is it is QUIET. cannot hear it over his Thermaltake 80mm's.
I am going to be looking into one of these soon for myself

I recently switched from a TT Spark to the 7000 on my ic7; did not reduce the temp but what a difference in noise; it is very quiet, even at the highest rpm; I would recommend it highly, especially for the price; also, for the question above, I recently switched my stock NB cooler to the new version; big difference in noise.

IMHO, if your temps are lower than 55C then just keep the stock intel heatsink cause its pretty damn good and quiet. If theyre higher then the Zalman will decrease by at least (or maybe on average) 5C. Pretty much noiseless with the fanmate on. However, as i wanted temps to be lower, i took fanmate off to speed up RPM to 2800 or so. Now you can hear it but it doesnt bother anyone.

Thread hijack: Anyone try to switch the 92mm fan on the heatsink to a better one?

And whats an NB fan?

Zalman also makes a passive NB heatsink you could strap on there. Performs great. No noise whatsoever.

NB stands for North Bridge. There is a chip on your motherboard that routes a lot of data transfer that should be located close to your CPU. This tends to get a little toasty, so many manufacturers put a fan on top of it (as well as a heatspreader or heatsink) to cool it down. System temperatures are usually read from the NB.

Does anyone own the AMD version of the Zalman? I'm looking for firsthand experience with it on an amd chip. Still debating between zalman and 800u+smartfan2. SF2 will be run at about 30db...

I run the sf2@3500 rpm. Farely quiet, good performance, and easy to sleep with, well you know what I mean :p .

Just make sure to use either the manuel control or the auto temp control, I think that is the xaser editon sf2, but it may be with the regular sf2 as well

Thanks. What AMD chip do you use? And what range of temperatures do you get?
