View Full Version : AMD Duron 700 Overclock help
I cannot get my 700 past 800mhz. I am using a MSI k7t pro2-a. If I change the voltage in the bios to 1.85, the onboard monitor says it's at 1.92 or something way high. 1.725 gives me a reading of 1.84. Cooling is good I'm at 34 degrees celsius. Any ideas? I have an option under core voltage which is cpu vio selector and the options are 3.3 or 3.45. Default is 3.3. Please help.

yea I did the pencil trick to unlock the L1
the 700s are the worst overclockers of the family. you may just have a dud one. keep trying though!
this might sound strange but my duron 800@933 (133x7.0 @ 1.75v) wont boot up cold on 1.80v but has no prob 1.75v.... cant figure it out
u know ifits a voltage problem when computer freezes during post or resets itselfs.

Some chips don't like high voltages
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

As you up the core voltage, it puts a greater strain on your PSU +5 and +3.3V outputs. They can only go so far. I'd bet a dollar to a donut that you are hitting the wall with you PSU.

bull crap!! i got my duron 700 up to 1125!!

My Friend; the magic is "BURNING IN." I had a 650mhz Duron that could not go higher than
145x5=725mhz no matter what I tried, like pushed it up to 1.85v core voltage and 3.9v I/O. Nothing else that I could do to make it better. So I made it run at 100x5=500mhz, at 1.85v core and 3.9v I/O for a couple days with all the burn in stuffs like Prime95, seti and the like. Now, I am a believer. It is going very well at 145mhzx6=870mhz. I am happy but not as much as others who made it to 1Gig +. The same happened to my 700mhz Tbird but it later made up to 870mhz too, but I returned that one and am thinking of a 1 Gig Tbird Oced at 1.4G+ now. Dream :-) :-) :-)
I will definately try the burn in. What the hell is CPU vio selector? It has the option of 3.3v or 3.45v in the bios under core voltage. Thanks for all the help though.

hehe VI/O is the power to the north/south bridge, agp, pci, and ram
What will happen if I change the vio to 3.45?
I doubt anything would happen cos I changed mine to 3.5
to reach the gig on my duron 700 but it didn't help at all.
You might try it though.U might just be lucky.
