I would bump it up as high as I could right away and then a couple weeks later try to get it higher. Some people think that if you run intense programs all the time like 3d mark, or prime 95 it burns the CPU in faster. Burning in helped me quite a bit. I could only get 1400 before, and now I am pushing 1.5 ghz.

The technology behind this phenomena eludes me. I can understand elevated temperatures causing the thermal grease to become more mobile, allow any possible air pockets to burp out and generally seat the HSF better, but that's it. I worked in the defense electronics industry for 15 years. We burned in computers we manufactured, under quite rigorous environmental extremes. The sole purpose was to weed out weak components. None of them got faster.

hoot: atleast it worked on my old p133. At first i could only get it 150mhz stable. Got bluscreen under boot on 180mhz so after a few weeks it did 180 100% stable then after a while i decided to try 200 it worked. Right now my sister got that computer running on 133@225mhz the maximum it can go!! And its totally stable and its only running a standard hsf.

So burnin helps but i dont think it help much to run p95 just one day. Have too gradually burn it in
