Athlon 750
Asus K7V MB (v1007 BIOS update) 4.29 Final drivers
Annihilator 2 vid card
USB DSL modem
USM Logitech mouse
20GB Maxtor HD (66)
45GB Maxtor HD (66)
DVD
CDROM
Ensonique sound card (I know I know)
250 Watt Power supply (very soon to be 300Watt)
Fans inside and one desk fan blowing right into open case

I would like to overclock this puppy and can't find a site with a descriptive detail and pics of the pencil trick and instructions. I've done some earlier overclocks but not one where I would have to do anything like this before. Any help would be great. Sorry if this is too much of a repeat. I did a search first but didn't find what I was looking for.

And some real success stories of Athlon 750 on K7V would be nice - I need a goal :)

Are you talking about athlon slot A? No pencil trick for this cpu. If you want to overclock this puppy, go get a Golden Finger Device (GFD) for changing multiplier. I can't remember where to get one though. The easiest way is to increase the FSB, but that won't go to far, since the speed of L2 cache will get in the way. If you have a GFD, 900 MHz is pretty normal o'c speed for this cpu.

if that is a slot athlon than you can unlock er, must geta GFD from www.northwindcomputers.com and change the mulitplier. If it is a socket athlon (tbird) than u r n luck. You just connect the gold L1 bridges on the chip (labeled L1) with either a pencil or some conductive ink (rear defrost kit) then go to your BIOS and up the FSb as much as possible till she wont boot, then back it doen 1 notch, then after that just up the multiplier till it wont boot again, then back down 1 notch. that sould be your max OC -but thats notgoin into cooling, and mega heatsinkd and voltage rising. go to www.tomshardware.com and lok around-hope this helps

I agree the best wat OC the true K7's (w/512 L2) is a GFD, i bought mine @ highspeedpc.com, its called a TD2 costs 45.00 including shipping. If you decide to go ahead with this method keep in mind HEAT. Any OC of the CPU will create more heat, you will need a very good heatsink 2 come to mind Alpha P7125 or the HEAVY METAL from computernerds.

Thnx.

It is a Slot A motherboard.

So, a Golden Finger Device? What is this? Does it give me access to the multiplier or what? I never heard of it although it sounds like I am going to try it.
