I'd probably be better able to answer my own questions if I knew how loud a certain amount of db *really* was. Seems like most run of the mill 80mm fans put out about 30db of noise. Is 40db a huge increase that would prove to be very annoying?
The case I plan on getting comes with a few generic fans. I want to add two higher quality fans, probably to be used as exhaust. I am trying to decide between these two:

and
http://www.svc.com/80sunsuphigs.html
They are both about the same price. The Sunon puts out a higher constant cfm at 40db, the Thermaltake Smartfan has a slightly lower minimum cfm and a slightly higher max cfm, at a lower decibel level all around. I have been planning on getting the smartfans for a while because of the temperature monitoring and lower overall noise, but I just came across the Sunon fans and are interested by them. I just don't know how loud 40db really is.
Either way I'll be ordering my parts in two weeks...much sooner than I expected (er, before October )
