i have win2k and ME on 2 partitions, and neither of them will let me use my diskette drive. i have tried other drives, but none work, and even stranger is that the drive did work until a few months ago, but i never noticed till recently. I know the system can use the diskette drive because i can boot with a diskette, but windows is being a hassle again.
the error it comes up with is "this diskette needs to be formated" so i press ok, and it attempts, then says "windows was unable to complete the format"
if you have any ideas PLZPLZ help
also i have an idea something like clonecd is going on, ie when clone cd takes full charge of the cdrom and nothing can access it.
well email me at ssiavash_s_s@hotmail.com
thnx

I'm having this exact problem right now but on a 'XP home' machine. ANY floppy I put in will get that message. Even floppies that I formatted on a nother XP machine and floppies that can be read on that machine get this same message on the other machine. I am at my wits end.

The MB is a Abit KG-7 Raid. I checked the knowledge base over at Abit but couldn't find anything. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Oh just to update: Win XP Home was a installed on a cleaned hdd. I've installed the FDD in device manager and let XP reinstall it but that hasn't helped either. I've also played with the cables reversing them and trying them every which way. I even tried another fdd bt got the same results.
