Im looking to get a total of 1 gig of ram...in 2 512 sticks, as thats all my k7s5a will take, but i dont want to spend more that 150 on RAM, i saw some NICE 512 sticks on newegg a month or 2 ago, but i guess it aint there....

Suggestions?

NewEgg has a good deal on KingMax PC2700 (MPMC22D-38KX3 ) memory for $68@ ($136 Total).

If you wanted PC3200 memory, you could pay $87-89 @ for GeIL PC3200 Value-Series. ($174-178). Anything cheaper then that would be Generic-built.

IS generic bad?
My mobo only supports up 2 2100, and i cant OC all that much anyway with my Pally, so i dont think I will ned more than 2700....what do you guys think? Generic or Kingston?

What about this one- Is this any better, only 30 more bucks

KingMax DDR memory 512MB PC3200- OEM
Specifications:
Performance range - 400MHz ( DDR400, CL2.5 )
Double-data-rate architecture; two data transfers per clock cycle
Auto & self refresh capability (4096 Cycles / 64ms)
Single 2.5V ±0.2V power supply Programmable Read latency 2, 2.5 (clock)

It looks like its supposed to be faster, will it help me at all?

Now with a K7S5A, however if you ever upgrade to an Nforce2 or KT400 or higher motherboard or an intel motherboard then you would probably be able to keep your ram and still be very happy with the performance.

PC2700 is rated to run at 166fsb and PC3200 is rated to run at 200 fsb so on your motherboard the 3200 is not of much use. But it is a better choice for the future.

it will only help you if you will be overclocking your FSB. It would be pointless to get 3200 or even 2700 if your going to keep your fsb at 133 all the time.

Ehhh, anywhere else i can get this cheap stuff, its not in stock at New egg, so....i would LOVE to get this ram befor the end of the month, i have a huge LAN to goto and running at 1600x1200 is choppy on my 9700 so i think the 256 of system ram is whats wrong....

SO where do i get this stuff now?

I would just get some pc2100 just to hold you over, Im sure 512megs would be plenty. Crucial is my favorite brand, currently my pc2100 is running at 170fsb with the best timings.
