Just got my Gig 266 FSB AXIA chip and MSI KT7 Turbo (MS-6330) today. I have a mini-Super ORB HSF on the chip.

I have a solid POST at 11.5x133 for 1530. I did notice that when I reboot, I get a floppy seek error sometimes and have to reset the bios.

It looks like I can run at 11x133 for 1466 and have zero boot problems. Temps are high.

CPU 62 - 63C
Vcore 1.85

What is the flavor of the week for HSFs?

That mini Orb is not up to the task ditch it fast! For coolers it depends on how much you want to spend and how much noise you can put up with. I like the Swiftech MC462 but it is a little to much $. A Global win FOP38 is cheap and cools very well and if you can't stand the noise of the Delta 60 screamer you can do the 80mm fan mod, this is prob the best option for most people.

Alpha PEP66 does the trick. On the MSI, though, you may have to mod it to fit.

Volcano II!!! It's so cheap, and REALLY good. I know, it says ThermalTake on it, and 'those orbs just suck' ... This one is NOT an orb. It does really well, a helluva lot better than even the SuperOrb. Try it. Christ, for $12.50 there's very little risk. But you WILL NOT be disappointed.

your temps have to drop PRONTO!!!!! have a look at the main page for an amd temperature article and you'll see that you're on the verge of amd's maximum recommended temp! please don't run that beautiful chip there much longer or it's going to die!

excellent coolers:
-alpha pep66 & pal6035, both of which really benefit from the delta 38cfm 60mm fan.
-globalwin fop38
-swiftech 462a - really pricey
-millenium's new hsf - still to be released, but awesome air-cooling performance.
-taisol cgk-something-something.. there's a review of it in the heatsink section of the main page.

you've got a magic chip, now protect yer investment with a decent hsf. don't skimp where it counts!!

good luck. :)
