You are simply reaching the limits of your stock heatsink. It has nothing to do with the motherboard. When you need to put in large amounts of increased voltage for small returns in clock speed, it means that you will soon to be reaching diminishing reutrns, which means you're going to either need to run with a high core voltage, or upgrade your cooling. When you get a better HSF, you will encounter this phenomenon again, but at far higher speeds.
