Hi folks,

I'm wondering if there's anybody out there who has maxed out their CPU speed with Radio Shack thermal paste (or some other non A.S. stuff), and then got Arctic Silver and realized a max speed MHz increase. If anyone had gotten a higher max speed with Arctic Silver over the other stuff, how much of a gain was it?

Also, how electrically conductive is this stuff? Has anyone had the misfortune of shorting a CPU out with it?

Thanks

I am testing a 1.2@1.44 with a FOP38 and Radio Shack goop so far the highest temp I have seen is 98F under load. This is on a Abit KT7A-R with the sensor bent up so it contacts the back of the cpu. I also have a P3 866 pushed to a 160 FSB (Asus CUSL2-C) and it runs 86F under full load hedgehog/23 cfm again with Radio Shack goop. Artic Silver will give you a degree or two better but I think the stuff is overhyped it is more important to make sure everything else is right like proper application, a good mount with enough clamping pressure, and a nice lapjob on the sink. I do use Artic Silver but I reserve it for chilled water, pelt, and ambient water cooling as it seems to work better on setups that can dissipate more heat then an air only setup.
