Hi,

I am interested in getting a custom water cooling kit for AMD processor. I am using a small mid tower case that have 2 80mm fan cutouts at back. So, I am thinking of getting the "Black Ice Micro" radiator.

Will this radiator be adequate for Thoroughbred XP2100+ AND GF4 4200 ?? Keep in mind that the average ambient temp at my place is 30 - 34 C (western India)

One more thing, this rad comes with only 3/8 fittings.
I was advised to go for a 1/2 system as it offers little resistance. Can I fit the 1/2 pipe over the 3/8 fittings with a hose clamp, or do I need reducers ?

Lastly, are there other rediators that can be fitted to 80mm fans ? Sometime back, I saw one with a dual 80mm fans from Directron, but that one was discontinued. It was a aluminium one. How good are Aluminium rediators ?

with that radiator you will barely be able to cool the processor as well as a decent air cooling solution. 80mm is just too small of a rad. adding another block would be out of the question I would think.

Maybe the Jr Dtek Pro Core (http://www.dtekcustoms.com/product.asp?3=103) will fit your case.

Try the Black Ice Micro II.

Strangely the same price as the BIM and would fit the 2 80mm slot nicely (I'm putting one in my Lian Li).

I was thinking of trading in my pro core for that dual 80mm black ice. How do you think the performance would compare.....sorry for thread hijack.

I am using the Swiftech micro rad that looks exactly like the other micros out there. I use it with an AMD XP2100 @ 2020Mhz. My pump is small as well. It's rated at only 108 gph. Everything is fine and I've experienced no heat related issues at all. I must add that I am using a 120 mm fan, with a 120 to 80 duct adapter, to blow air into the micro rad. I use an 80mm fan to suck air out the top of the rad. These fans are not anything special, just your average blue LED fans. The XP2100 did post at 2300Mhz when using only air. I have yet to try it when using the water.

I do want to add another micro or larger rad in the future. Using a second micro may be the best alternative for case spacing issues. I have looked at the double micro mentioned above and it looks enticing. It would also fit nicely.

Hope this helps.
