My Computer Lies!!!!! HELP

well i used to use 98se driectx8 and 3dmark2k and all was good-TNT2 8meg-, now i have upgraded to win2000pro and 3dm2k1 and now with direct x 8 installed i try to run 3dm2k1 and it says my accelerator does not support dx8-I HAVE THE SAME CARD- 1080 drivers from nVidia(yes its the dx8 for 2000/nt) why is this so-my computer lies-i know this card supports dx8-why does it say this-also if it does let it run it locks up in the first test-then i have to reboot-PLEASE HELP

I don't know, but I'll bet that if you had tried to run 3DMark2001 on your old set-up you would have gotten the same message. can you check that out? the TNT2 is a pretty old card, and 3DMark2001 is a real ball-buster.

thanks for the info-bu i think u r missin the point-first of all its not wether or not my card can handle it-trust me it can! Its that its says not dx8 compatible-and IT IS !. I have faith that my card will get 80+fps in 3dm2k1, 140+ in 3dm2k but 3dm2k1 is a tougher project. Im just wondering why i get this message. I would check it out with the old setup butim not gonna format and downgrade to 98se just to check a bug. I know its compatible cause i used ot run it fine-please i need help i really wanna test her out after i lap er and install the HS on the ram and GPU

I believe your computer did lie. but maybe in wrong message.. I mean honestly,.. your vid card is just not upto its power to even run 3dmark 2001. The qualification for 3dmark2001 is to run a video card that has minimum of 32mb of video memory and later model cards.. I think that is probably why your PC dont let your card to run such program and show that message about DX8 not compatible( I know it is lie) but you get some result like that.. bummer.. :(

damn dude, spend $100 and upgrade that slug 8M vid card. I run 3dmark2k and I have a cele366@485 on an abit be6-2, 256MB ram cas2, and a TNT2ultra 32 M oc'd core 190 mem 205 and I still only get 1600 or so running the default benchmark. I know I am processor locked right now but even when I finish my classic athlon setup 750@1,000 I still will only get about 3000-4500, my card is old and I know that. Paid $160 for it and now a sub $100 card will thrash it. We gotta change with the times.
