How important is it to cool the cache chips on a classic athlon? I have a 750 I'm gonna take to a gig with watercooling (I hope) and in cracking the case I noticed that The factory heat plate doesn't even touch the chips, there is a very big gap. Since I will ise the 1/3 divisor the cache won't be too far out of spec (1/3*1,000=333) and shouldn't heat up. Should I go through the trouble of making some shims to cool the cache chips with the waterblock? Also, is there a way to tell the speed of the chips? Numbers on the chips are SCM63P636ATQ300 TOP LINE AND JZKQPN9944 BOTTOM LINE. The 300 at the end of the top number seems to indicate 300 Mhz since it's a 750 with a 2/5 divisor (750*2/5=300) but is that the rated speed of the chip or just indicating that it goes on a processor with a 300Mhz cache? Thanks for any help.
