Hi all,
I have tried using a 2H pencil (mechanical) to unlock the L1 bridges on my Duron 700 (ASUS A7V mobo), but it hasnt worked a couple of tries (after cleaning and re-applying).

What sort of pencil should I use, should it be a H or should it be a B. And then, what number should it be, 2H, 5H, 2B, HB, 2HB etc etc. Which one works the best?

Its my first attempt at overclocking, so pls excuse the dumb question!

I think the 2HB ones are the best. The best thing to do is get a defogger or conductive pen to unlock it as the pencil tends to smudge and wear off after a bit and you have to keep redoing it. The other methods are alot more permanent and are less prone to problems.(the pencil trick can give you probs with certain mult's if the marks aren't thick enough.) You can find a defogger kit at almost any autoparts store and cost about 8 bucks. I used one and it's great. If you mess up you can use nailpolish remover to clean it off and once it's done and works, you dont have to keep redoing it. :-)

I used HB mechanical pencil and It never failed me. Never. I even have a conductive pen but I don't use it, NOT... YET. :-) :-) :-)

dont use a pencile

go to auto zone or napa or any auto parts stroe and get a rear window defroster kit and use the conductive paint out of it

will save you ALOT of headachs

Thanks guys, I might try one of the pencil suggestions again just to see if I can get it to work, if not I'll grab a window defroster kit from down the road and give it a go <fingers crossed>

Thanks

Tell you the truth, I used my daughters barbie pencil. Works good. I run my 1G 266 @1450 with no problems.
