Okay, currently, I am running the stock BIOS on my 9500np softmodded to 9800 with infineon 3.3ns RAM. I'm sitting at 415/315 right now on the card and was wondering if there was a better BIOS out there that would improve performance.
As always, thanks for the help

I didn't know you could softmod a 9500np to a 9800np. I've always heard of 9500np to 9700pro.

Yeah, with the Omega drivers you can go from 9500np to 9800, but i'm sure it's just as effective as the 9500 to 9700.
Also, whoops, there is another post just like this in the forum, but hay, I need all the posts I can get to hit that 997 limit for general chat!
dang buy your video card off you......I am always unlucky and get checkers or artifacts

You didn't actually turn your card into a 9800. The architecture is different between the 9500 and 9800. You only utilized some of the tweaks previously exclusive to the 9800 series. You must have used the omega drivers. They change your adapter info into 9800. You really just have a measly 9700 pro. : )

GEE THANKS FOR THAT INFORMATIVE POST. Could you be a little more anal retentive and condecending next time? And before you post, try reading next time. Most notably:

Also, card is definitly not for sale, unless you cough up enough cash to buy me an equally powerful card (i.e. 9800) :D

Actually my little friend, you said that you could go from a 9500np to a 9800. That is false, and I was just pointing it out. I don't think I was condescending at all. I sure wasn't trying to be. I think you may have had too much caffeine. Try to settle down. You will get to your 997 posts, but with your bad attitude no one will want to talk to you in general discussion anyways.
How about we put on the brakes and drop the flamethrowers fella's I am sick of seeing posts like the above, and Namagomi all you did was let us know to keep an eye on your postings for spam. Thank you for that. Seriously enough with the attitudes that abound if you have nothing new and informatively useful to post, don't click reply. Understand me ?

HUR HUR HUR MISSION COMPLETE, "MY LITTLE FRIEND!"
Like I said, I know it's just as effective as the 9500->9700 mod, but on this specific mod it says 9800. Apparently you have a problem with reading, so maybe this pretty picture will help you out.

I was thinking of buying a 9500 non pro but the 64Mb version, it sels here in canada for $179.99 so round $109US.
Question i have for Namagomi is, did you doo any hardware mods to it at all? Like remove heat sink, or flash with another bios.
Does anyone know where i can find reviews or benchamarks on the 9500 non pro 64Mb version.
Thanks,
Kam

Well, I have the 128meg version as said above, and my card is clocked as it is in part due to the 9500->"9800/9700" (to be diplomatic) mod, and the Thermalright sk-6+ I have bolted on to the core, along with tweankmonster ramsinks all around. For current games, I'd have to reccomend the 128mb version.
Besides the pretty extensive hardware mods I have, the BIOS is bone stock, which is why I asked the original question in this thread. However, if I find some good ones, I'll post it here.
Although he's not too popular here, Tomshardwareguide.com has a huge VGA card benchmark comparison, and the 9500 64meg might be among them.

I have a question, I get pretty bad checkerboarding, would the "9700 mod" differentiate in any way from the Omega 9800 softmod. I just dont know what else to do about the checkerboarding...

It's the other way around, it didnt work with the Omega drivers, would it work with the "other" hack?
Namagomi where did you get your card at?
