View Full Version : OK ALL YOU AMD TBIRD OCING PPL HELP ME OUT HERE !!!!
ok well im buying a new pc i need a mobo+processor dont have to be a combo or anything just whatever is the best i wana use a pelt+alpha cooling but im also considering watercooling what is the highest i can go stable with any processor iw ana hit over 1.5 ghz stable and what cooling do you suggest i need a mobo+processor ideas
I personally like the Abit KT7A MoBo and the T-bird 1.2. The T-bird 1.33's are out now but the KT7A MoBo doesn't support the 13 multiplier yet. Maybe with a new bios update. Alot of people like the Iwill MoBo and it does support the new 1.3's. As far as the pelt, I would probably go with water cooling for that as well. Dangerden has some excellent watercooling stuff. A pelt large enuff to cool a 1.33 will probably need watercooling.

iwill kk266 or abit kt7a mobo, 1.2 or 1.33 cpu at 266 bus (cuz these are the only ones that are factory unlocked). as for cooling I prefer air cooling, no worries, cheaper, and you will probably only gain another 100 mhz or so from water or a peltier. Bear in mind if your peltier fails to turn on (you will need a seperate power supply for it as well !!) or your water supply runs dry or your pump quits your cpu (and maybe your mobo) will fry faster than you can say "roasty toasty" Also you will need good memory that will do 150+ mhz at turbo cas2 for the abit, or 165+ mhz for the iwill. If you really want to go into the supercooling route vapochill has a decent setup but it's expensive (600 bucks including case a psu i think?) but it is more dependable. Also, if you decide to go peltier you will HAVE TO use water as well, as between the cpu and peltier you will be pumping about 250 watts of heat into your case. Some people have been reporting to get around 1600 mhz with air. How fast are you planning on running your processor? You can always start of with air and upgrade to peltier later, especially when your 200 dolllar 1.2 cpu is selling for 79 bucks :)
