I have just installed 2 - 160gb SATA hard drives and a Highpoint RAID Controller.

Should I set up the RAID-0 array first then format the two drives as one.

OR

Should I format the drives first then set up the RAID-0 array.

AND

Is it better to set up the new drives as basic drives or dynamic drives.

Thanks...

you first set up the array, and then you format. if you're formatting from a boot disk you'll need to load the drivers when it asks if you want to load em. (while the boot disk is loading it'll say somethin at the bottom i think) oh, and i think you just want to have it as a basic drive.

I think creating an array formats the disk automatically. The order isn't important.

Create the Array then Partition & Format, be sure to press F6 when prompted by the install process which comes at the first screen so be ready.

YviE - Creating an Array will not format the drives automatically. Who ever told you that didn't know a thing about setting up RAID.

Forgot to tell you. The array will be for data storage only, the OS will stay on the current drive.
Still not sure if it is better to leave the array as basic discs OR set up as dynamic discs.
Thanks a lot for the help...
