Me and my friend were talking about our gaming setups and we both were amazed to find we had the same mouse, the mx500. Well he said he did a little mod to his and that was removing the 2ounce brass weigh from his mouse. I was like WTF a brass weight in a mouse why oh why. SO i open up my mouse and to my amazement there it is a pretty large brass weight, or atleast i think its a weight. So out goes the weight and the mouse is alot lighter ALOT ALOT lighter. Why does logitech put a weight in their mouse? Or am i missing something and this is a heatsink to a key part of the mouse. And it might be copper but it looks very brassy so correct me if im wrong.

I think that's just to weigh it down. Has to do with accuracy and all that jazz.

Yeah, I think it just makes it easier to control for most people if the mouse has some weight to it.

Anyone know if the IntelliExplorerWhateverBlue from MS has a weight in it? Other than the batteries? It doesn't *feel* very heavy without the two AAs in it...

mx700 does not have a brass weight (i opened it up to change the led). the weight comes from the batteries, unfortunatley...
