View Full Version : Overvolting my TBird 900: how much is safe?
I'm easily running my TBird 900 at 1.05 with no extra voltage, but I'd like to juice it up a bit to get higher. I'm wondering how far I can go voltage wise without seriously risking my CPU. I have an Alpha 6035 w/ Delta 38 cfm fan, disastrous heat isn't a problem (I'm also in a cool room, my CPU temp is at 27 right now) Thanks.

You can take it to 1.85v if necessary with good air cooling. Take it in 0.5v steps and watch the temps. Post the results if you would.

Thanks, I have the Abit KT7A, so I'll do it in .025 volt steps to keep it safe. Getting ready for quite a few cmos resets......

I did the voltage mod on my kt7r, and have had it it up to 1.94V safely. I've seen people who went even higher than that to just over 2V. Just make sure that you have good enough cooling.
btw, you got it to run at 1.05V successfully?!?!
Dude, I think he meant 1050MHZ. :)
Though your cpu temp is 27C while doing forums, it is not a good test of how far you can go based upon resultant temperature. When doing the forums, my cpu is at 21.5C using a thermocouple drilled into HSF (read accurate). When I run my processor at full load using Prime95, that same cpu climbs up to 36C after a few hours. 3D gaming will produce the same result. If you are going to use temperature as an indicator, make sure it is under worse case conditions.
