Yes I'm a newbie, but i have been wondering if there is a structural differance between the durons or if they are just coded differant by like the L7 bridge so that the board is seeing them differantly and doing the overclocking of the chip. So to speek.

I've seen a little talk of differant color cores. Can someone explain that.

Thanks

The physical characteristics betw. AMD junky Durons or T-birds with different clockspeeds are identical. yes,.. you go by the codes written on the chip.
AMD uses pretty colors to play with.. trying to draw more people and kids by coming up with nice n bright colors! like.. red, orange, blue, purple, green, gray, pink, yella, and more.. but from above all, the Blue ones on the core are the best one. They overclock well. I also believe they are found in the AXIA version of T-bird chips. Sorry but I'm not into picking colors to get a better overcloking chip. Out!!

For a guy who hates AMD so much you sure do spend alot of time in the AMD section of the forum milk. If P3's are sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo great, how come there aren't that many hitting 1.4, 1.5, 1.6 GHZ. Ya know, for such "junk" processor, as you put it, the Athlons sure can take a beating and keep coming back. But don't get me wrong, if you want to keep buying Intel, and paying the Blue Groups salary, you go right ahead, I would rather have a processor that can actually reach a speed higher than 1.13GHZ. And as far as the stryctural difference goes: there is one, usually the faster ones have more transistors in them, therefore they can run at higher speeds. If you want a processor that will give you a mediocre OC, go Intel, if you would like to see actual performance, go AMD. :-)

easy, easy. let's not start a flamewar here. That's for the Debates section. As far as I know and have been told, there really aren't major structural differences between the higher and lower speed duron's. There's a neat article over at athlonoc.com that you should read about duron and tbird steppings (that 4 letter code that everyone is discussing right now) and which ones are the good overclockers and which ones are not. I'd take a look at it, and buy accordingly.

Fiz iz right-u got a 700 at a bit over 1000, and there are durons that are 600 doing over 1100-they would probably do more but again they are a junky chip right?????????????????????????? Intel is terrible-they say they have a 1.4 gig-just call it what it is a 1.1 gig ora 1.2 gig AMD is the only ones that truly run at ober 1.3 gig. maybe its because that you spend so much $ for Intel chips there;s not much room left for quality-like AMD.

SORRY SKIP_HAD TO SAY IT

--> Emm.. yeh, I told myself to go back to the INTEL forum section but... it's more fun here in AMD section. There are more opponents to compete with.. Without anybody to argue with or to fight with,.. it's no fun... no excitement.. :D

Oh one thing.. I didn't say I hate AMD.. and I am not jealous either. Simply because I have Intel rig and not AMD at the mo... so it is natural.. to be favored to your rig's company. If I have a AMD, I would probably do the samething toward INTEL, hahahahahaha.... funny eh?.. :D

I hear ya, I apologize for that. Sorry. :):):) I was only playin a little, I don't want to fight, I just thought that it was an uncalled for post(calling Durons Junk), and wanted the right info to get to the original post.
