View Full Version : What a Rotten day

I shouldn't of woken up today. I over clocked a Xp2800+ a measly 100mhz and it started locking up. I have since had 3 brown-outs. One of my 2400+'s has been acting quirky since the 2nd one. 2 machines dumped their WU after the 3rd one.
Took me 40min to get the router back working.

I'm getting ready to leave to the lake for the weekend and I'm probably gonna come back to all boxes down.

Bout the only thing that went right(so far) is I got the computer that was overheating a new HS/fan and a tornado case fan. It appears it is doing ok now.

MY GOD those Tornado's are loud!!!!!!! I told my Dietary manager I fixed your computer....I turned it into a vacuum cleaner.
I could not imagine having multiples of these in a case. It has reaffirmed my view on the Tt SFII. I'll take the slightly less max cfm for the huge difference in noise level.

LoL, I heard of 5 volt moding those tornadoes to make them quiter... but looks like your comps are having their "off" day :P

I had a a good and bad day. I turned in tons of WUs (12) went up to 21 Active CPUs. The bad: my WU (53 pointer 9 minute frames) got curropted on my rig after I tried to overclock it a little more. Lost it when it was 20% finished too.

its not 5v its 7v u put the neg of the fan in the 5v and then it runs at 7v much quiter and it still puts alot out...but the only prob i have is if the computer is completely shut down u have to unplug the fan start it up then plug the fan back in.....

anyway now that i got a tad off subject...we all have our bad days and good days...we all just hope we have more good than bad :)

Nope you're not the only one. I've had a rough day also. I loaded a new game on my rig last night and forgot to start FAH after the install. Didnt notice until I got home from work 18 hrs later:( And my production overall has been down about 225 ppw. Went back to yellow three days ago and cant seem to get back into the orange. I've got 3 tinkers working now also. They take soooooo long but the 70 points per wont hurt when it finally sends it.

Keep up the good work and look at the bright side.

From the day I was born til the day I ride in a hearse things cant get so bad that they cant get no worse!

My rig locked up last night around 83% and my network was down at the time so it was unable to get a new WU until I could get it back running this morning. I setup another console as a backup incase that ever happens again.

I had a bad day as well...I just need to get it out. I come home from school feeling like **** and take a nap(didnt sleep the night b4). Get up later. Waterblock leaks. Virus detected. Fix wb. Fix virus. Sit down to browse the forums and my computer desk dumps my monitor right in my groin and my speakers hit me square on the head. Haul computer to the big tv in living room. Router wont start. Update firmware and its ok again. Fah service is corrupted. Redownloaded. Has anyone had a worse day? Dont include house burning down or processor exploding.

Yuri, I know misery loves company, and after hearing about your day I do feel much better:p

I hope we all have a better days in at least a 10/1 ratio.

Sorry to hear about your bad day :(

I've been gone for awhile and had some problems. For whatever reason, my main comp runs perfectly fine when I'm here gaming and whatever on it, but as soon as I leave it for a day or two without any input it locks up for whatever reason  (I guess next time I will have to clock it back a bit *sigh*)
After this weekend I'm going to be home for the next couple months straight (back to school ) so my production will probably jump a thousand points a week from all my rigs actually being up for at least 95% of the time

I can relate. I lost a PIII 800 yesterday. I think it needs a new hard drive.

Had another power lose today with all six rigs within two hours of sending. It was a weird dump. The lights flickered and all six rebooted but the tv didn't go off and no clocks needed resetting. All were Gromacs so they all restarted at "0". From now on I'll just take it in stride since it seems to be happening to all.

umm yeah me too, losing rigs left and right. :(

Ack, maybe I should of entitled this thread a bad week :(

The rig that was overheating apperantly did it again last night. Then I find out that one of my server HD's failed. Luckily it was part of the Raid 5 set so I just had to revoot for the moment. Tonight I will see if it really needs a new drive or if I can get it back and rebuild it. I think the drive went bad Friday when we had all the power outs.

Has anyone ever actually gotten any money from a UPS/surge company when power spikes caused hardware failures?
