Will this combination of mobo, heatsink, fan, case, and chip OVERCLOCK well AND maintain a DECENT/COOL temp?

How much could I overclock it PAST the stock speed?

If not, what do I need to change and/or add?

I am a complete noob when it comes to deciding what will give the best cooling with a low noise level that still allows overclocking.

PLEASE HELP!!!

It's hard to say if hardware will OC well at all. Every chip, motherboard, vid card, memory, etc etc does not OC the same as everyone elses. At times you may get pros at OCing, sometimes you get duds.

But to comment on what you're going to purchase, i suggest you ditch that fan and get something else that pushes more cfms. Second of all, who is DFI? Looks to me like your making a computer for looks rather than overclocking. Considering that it has an nvidia nforce 2 ultra chipset, i'm guessing it'll do fine. Your also going to have to change your heatsink. That motherboard doesn't have any mounting holes. Your going to have to purchase a slk800, so your also better off with a thermaltake smart fan 2. Get some good memory as well, corsairs are champs.

ditto on the slk800 and the smartfan2. If sound is not an issue look at a vantec tornado fan. Also, unless money is really no object, save some cash and get a 2500+ to overclock, they seem to reach the same speeds as anything else when overclocked

just another idea, for the kind of money you'd be laying out for this setup, you could get a watercooled setup and that would get you a VERY good temp and great overclocking

DFI mobos OC quite well.. but indeed they dont have the mounting holes so the slk-900u is totally useless.. Def go with slk-800A and SF2

and make sure you get good brand pc3200 or higher or your oc wont go very far

Personally I think you need to decide whats more imortant form or function? Then you can start making decisions about what stays and what goes. I would suggest an Abit NF7-S motherboard. Its a proven excellent overclocker and has mounting holes. If looks are more important to you well then I guess the DFI is the way to go.

DFI makes most of these boards any way.... They just are resold under different names... That is why DFI is so little known.... They never have there names on things they make... DFI NF2 Ultra Lan Party is a pretty good board... albeit there first attempt at such a product....

How can you back this up? (I apologize for changing the subject)

Here is one....

"DFI is not exactly a brand name that you will instantly recognize, and this is a problem for DFI. As one of the largest board makers, most still do not recognize the DFI name. That is probably because DFI caters to the OEM market, which means they make boards for other companies. Recently, DFI has made the marketing decision to pursue the 'Enthusiast' market under their own brand name, most likely to add credibility – and sales – to their entire Motherboard line. The top-end of this effort is called the LanParty series, and DFI has poured everything into these packages that a gaming enthusiast might desire."

and can be found here...

I chose this board as, not only does it look extremely nice, but every single review I have looked at has said the same thing.....
The best nForce2 board they have yet to see, with the ONLY flaw being location of CMOS jumper and non-existance of mounting holes. Several places have successfully overclocked a Barton 2500 xp to 2.5GHz on air, stable!!!

Those were the 2 reviews that really hooked me.

As for my memory and other specs, my complte intented comp layout is located at

I am trying to keep the total price to below $1500 as possible. I am going to cool the case on air only, possible in a month or two I will buy a cooling kit of some sort.

Since there are no mouting holes, I was thinking of a SLK-800a with a Thermaltake SmartFan 2 ??? What do you think.........................

That looks like it could do the trick..... but you want to deffinately make sure you have good air flow through the case... this will be crucial to your being able to keep the cpu at a reasonable temp...
With the proc you will be running, you deffinately will want to upgrade to a watercooling system, especially if you plan to overclock, which i expect that you do...

I'd go with a 2500+, SLK-800A/SFII. You have the option of getting the SLK-900A, though it doesn't provide too much of a performance increase over the SLK-800A.
