Just use basic worm drive metal hose clamps, there will be no performance hit & they add great security & piece of mind.

if at all possible get clapms that have a curved inner serface that matches the barb size also so that it doesnt cut into the tube and puts even pressure

another way to prevent leaks is to make a checklist of every part of the system and run your system for a couple of days before installing it and tripple check your checklist

yeah a 24hour + testing time out side the case is HIGHLY recomended.

for ultimate peice of mind.. silicon seal the gaps between the pipe and barbs up, after using worm drive clips.

that won't affect your performance at all.

I just put the correct size tubing over the brass nipples, 2 years running, no leaks. No need for clamps unless you are running with some decent pressure in your system. But then again its pretty cheap insurrance if you are scared.

I did that while testing my setup and it leaked...1/2" brass barbs...1/2" ID tubing.

The only place I don't have metal clamps is where I have 3/8" tubing (just a little bit where it won't kink...don't freak out :p) over my 1/2" waterblock barbs.
