I'm gonna get a new Duron for one of my pal's. I was wondering, if there is some of the CPU codes there are better than others, just like the AXIA with the T-birds.
My Duron has the code AKCA, is this a good one?
Thanks

Among those AKAA, AKBA, AKCA batches the later AKCA is better for OCing, My AKCA0103 800mhz Duron now 145mhzx7=1015mhz CPU, runing w/o a glitch but at 1.85v Vcore and 3.9v I/O. The CPU tem is kind of cool <40C full load w Prime 95.

Never seen An AKCA 600mhz Duron before AMD discontinued those lowend Durons. Only AKAA, AKBA.

woo hoo. I got an AKCA duron 700. Had i not fried the mobo and broken the clip for the globalwin fop38, i would have it up. Well, i got it from www.upgradeplanet.com for a great price and got it quickly in the mail for groud shipping.

The premiere Duron code is that found on the 900 and with some luck and/or time it should hit the lower speed Durons as well. 'ANCA' is the code.

A duron of this Stepping or greater in the alphabet anecdotally has the best chance of 1.2Gigs and maybe a bit more. This with great air-cooling.

On a per-centage basis, this pales in comparison to the 1050-1100Mhz reached by the 600-650s, but should give you an advantage in trying to achieve the highest clockspeed.

Cheers.

X-bit labs had a Duron OC article that listed some codes, but the overclock speeds were ~50Mhz lower than a really good air-cooled attempt should yield.

Here's a link: Linkage (http://www.xbitlabs.com/cpu/duron-oc.html)

Sorry for the two posts. You should look at the CPU D-base right here on the site.

My 'AKBA' after a real burn-in, and a few days of tweaking is stable at 1097Mhz. Lapped FOP-38-1, Arctic Silver, lots of fans.

The CPU DB on this site is helpful but not particularly so with codes for los Durons..... Mine is an AMCA Week 2 2001 and I could only find one similar. Not much as far as being able to observe trends. :-(

I have read a couple of articles on the Duron codes and weeks and such and as it appears to me, the code on a Duron matters slightly but not as much as it means for the TBird (the results of a "good" code are less dramatic). Anyway.

I've seen 850 ANCA's

But as stated previously - AKCA's are the ruler - I went hunting them yesterday afternoon at a small fair - but everything was AKBA stepped - very unpredicatble stepping

U must be kidding! My Duron is a AKCA! I just HAVE to get a new cooler, so I can get this chip tested (overclocked) for real....

Thanks for all the info, and links.

I've got two "AKBA" DURON 600's, both good for over 1.1GIG.

I also have an "AFEA" blue core T-BIRD that's "only" good for 850MHz.
