my NON OVERCLOCKED athalon850 was 69c under load. i know thats not right. im using stock fan and heatsink but still it shouldnt lock up and get that hot surely?

Do you have an AMD certified HSF (stock?) ?

Is there a good thermal interface between heatsink and CPU die?

Is the Heatsink smooth on the bottom - does it need lapping ?
