A friend is trying to OC his new 1.33ghz chip. No matter what combination he tries he can't get it OC beyond 1.4 and the chip is very cool -10c. We have been reading reports of high 1400s and even 1500s with air cooling but we can't even seem to make it into Windows ME at 1463 <11 x 133>.

The basic setup is:
t-bird 1.33
KT7A-RAID <no raid set up, but hish hard drive is on IDE3>
ASSUS GForce 2 7700
Soundblaster Live
3 com networking card
Azen or Apacer ram <I'm not sure>

I know good ram makes a big difference but we are only playing with the multiplier so we are not over clocking the ram....

Any suggestions?

Is the O/S a clean install, done with this system or a carry over from the last system. Is it overwritten the 98 O/S

Try this got to 11.5 x 130=1495. see if she boots.Or 11x130=1.43

Basicly The 266 fsb processors use a lower clock to achieve the higher FSB of 133.On my system my nic card is very touchy with FSB speeds above 133.and at 133 I can get to 1333,{on my 1.2}9x133= stock setting,10x 133 = 1333 any more than 10 I hang.

At 130 fsb I hit 1.43 all day long stable as hell.11x130=1.43.You may want to crank the bus up and lower the clock 10x145,Or vise Versa

Because there are so many different components on all the systems out there there is no sure clock speed for any processor,No matter what the temps are.

Would you mind posting all three lines of code for that CPU? I'd be very grateful.

I just about the same system. The way I have Soft Menu III set up I am at 1530 right now.
X11.5
133/33
core voltage 1.85
I/O voltage 3.40v
fast CPU Command Decode Fast
Enhance Chip Performance Enable
4 way Disable
Dram 4 K Page mode Disable
Dram Clock Host/clock

I hope that this helps. Oh I am watercooled so keep an eye on temps if you are aircooled. you might try with lower voltages.

If it's still a problem, first reduce CAS to 3.

If that does not do it, remove all add-on cards. The SB Live and the NICs are notorious.

Good luck

Yes the sound blaster card needs to be in the 3rd pci slot. what ever you do don't put it in the 5th slot. Abit told me the 5th slot is shared with the agp.
