View Full Version : T-Bird 1Ghz@1306 with front door open!
Hi folks! Really Great Site for us never-ending hard-core OC´s :) Cheers!!
But what more can I achieve? Got a T-Bird 1Ghz named AMT3B AXHA 0105APBW, reaching 1305Mhz on a Abit Kta mobo, but that´s it! @ std 1,75volts.
Despite outdoor / ambient temp@9 degrees C. Yes, I´hve placed my naked cabinet right at the door opening, but cannot go anything further:(
Any suggestions?
Please tell me, should I switch to an AXIA-proc?? Hard to get so far, in Norway....
Best regards!
Jan
C´mon! Norway isn´t THAT far away??? It´s a great country, anyvay! Despite the low temp in April :P
What are ur temps?
What kind of cooling do u have?
Hi Walter!
Thanks for your reply! I have a CoolerMaster fan which should support speeds up to 1,2Ghz. My temps are 30C @ idle, reaching 47C with SiSoft Burn-in, for the moment running my cpu @ 1233 Mhz, 1,6vCore. Ambient temp around 20 C. I think I´m on the good side regarding temps, so far?
But I´hve read a lot about AXIA´s, and was a little confused when i discovered the AXHA-marking on my cpu. Is my cpu capable of reaching the speeds like the AXIA-version? Of course, it´s always a matter of cooling, but I´m just wondering if there are other limitations to the cpu itself, compared to the AXIA?
Look forward to your reply!
Regards, Jan
Ur temps are looking ok, but I think u should look around for some better cooling, something like a FOP38 or anything an that class. I have the Cooler Master myself, and it keeps my Duron cold enough to run at 978MHz, but I think I could reach the gig, if I got some better cooling, I just need the cash :-(
I don't know about the code thing, but I don't think any other chips can compare with the AXIA. For more information, u should look after some old post's in the AMD section.
Thanks again Walter, I´ll go for the FOP38, asap!
Maybe tomorrow already, if any of the hw-pushers are available :)
Have´nt found anything written about the AXHA proc so far..
REgards!

AXHA/AVHA chips just don't get past 1.3 GHz. I have an AVHA that will only hit 1.333 Stable, after that nothing... I don't think cooling is the problem. If you really want 1.4 you should try to pick up an AVIA or an AXIA. I'm not sure, but I think the third letter is more important than the second one...
It seems like AXHA and AVHA processors don't clock as far as their I equivalents. Common thought is that tbirds later in the alphabet are better, but by that way of thinking the AXHA CPUs should be superior to the AVIA ones. I wouldn't be surprised whether the second and the third letters refer to completely separate things about the chip.
Don't give up on that AXHA just yet. I have one that would only run at 1.33. Anything over a 1350 and it will not even post. Using chilled water at -17C I now have it running at 1583! Itried 1610 but windows came up with boot errors, maybe it needs to be a few degrees colder. I may try adding a pelt and see if it'll make better then 1.6 I do have a better AXIA chip but this one is just a challange to see what I can wring out of it. Since it is cold where you are I bet you could do some serious cooling with water if you put the radiator outside. Then if it works think about making some kind of chiller.

That chip is just one step under the BELOVED AXIA, it CAN go above 1300 ive seen it done with air cooling. Yes witha copper waterblock or something you can beat the 1.3 mark www.coolerguys.com, try that site

I have an AVHA chip in my main machine and I have had it up to 1360 stable, that is with watercooling and when the house temps used to be 21C.
Now that it's warming up and it consistantly hits 28-29C in the computer room I have it running at 1300 again. I was tinkering with the idea of a phase change water chiller, but now I believe it is coming to that very quickly. Three soon to be four boxes running in a 9x10 room = homemade heater :)
