Duron 700 @700 (AKCA0044) reached 9*100 stable a 1.8V but I'd like to try 7*133=931mhz.
my Soltek SL-75KV2X [KT133] (not exactly an overclocking board but it has fair options [fsb and multiplier dip's] and is cheap and stable) have DIP switches allowing me to run it at FSB 133 (dip switches allow up to 150FSB) with pci@33 but it doesn't boot at all, black screen. (I upped the V to 1.85, nothing). I thought it would work easily at 931 but it ain't. I know that KT133's mobo aren't specified for higher than 100 but I thought that a mobo that has -->150FSB setting would do 133 at least. Any Ideas?Could it be the RAM that would need volts (see memory forum)?

I don't know whether to thank VIA or the motherboard manufacurers, but many of us got "burned" buying a KT133 chipset motherboard, assuming it would run up to 133 FSB. I know I did and wound up having to sell it to buy a KT133A based motherboard. In the case of my motherboard, it would not go higher than 103 on the FSB.

Is there so less KT 133 owners? :(

My KT133 board won't do much more than 111 mhz, 133 mhz on a KT133 is completely unrealistic. Sorry to tell you, but you need to get a KT133A for that.

And you thought cause it has 150 mhz FSB setting it could do 133? Well mine can go up to 183 mhz FSB i believe, and i can't even do 115.

i think i told you the same thing in your other post: it's pot luck with kt133 chipsets, but most won't go over 110mhz, IF they're lucky enough to get there. mine maxes out at 107mhz.

Ok thank you for your inputs. Sad news. Don't know if I'll manage to swap my mobo with another one...

dunno whether you know already
there are two different ways to get to 133 MHz FSB
1. like in Athlon case there's a jumper or in the bios for changing from 100 to 133 for the 133 MHz Athlon ("c" class) but NOT with Duron at the moment
or 2. overclocking to 133 MHz which is as the others already said totaly unrealistic

Soltek announces 100Mhz only, I doubt that switching those DIP to 133 with a class c athlon would change anything (my chipset is the poor KT133 w/o little a), however, worth the try. thx
