Hi all. I am working on a computer for a friend who is having problems with a new 9600pro video card. I know the card is AGP8x and the manual for the motherboard says it only goes to 4x (v2.0), while the bios only lets you choose from 1x and 2x. Its a Syntax K7SV266AD (El Cheapo) along with an XP2000+. Infrequently this card will boot up, but normally I don't even POST. Once working it seems fine, so I suppose it can't be a voltage problem (1.5 vs 3.3).
When it won't reboot again, a PCI card works fine as does my old Kyro II. I plan to update the BIOS, but it only says there's a fix for some multi-card reader.
I have yet to put the 9600pro into another (new) system to verify if the card is actually working, but until such time, can anyone think of anything else I can try?
EDIT: The 9600pro works fine on my NF7-S mobo
For what its worth, the mobo only has the ATX1 power connector (and not the 4 pin power connector).
Please help as you can.
Thanks,
Tad
EDIT: Ok, its the pos mobo... thanks anyway
