i don't know what to decide on. the nf7-s has IEEE 1394a adn sata 150 which i'm not going to using. so i'm looking towards the nf7, but are they completely the same as terms of overclocking? i know for sure the nf7-s can overclock but can the regular nf7 get the same results? (providing they use the same cpu and ram)

It's rising the voltage to the chipset, you need it only when you need to go very ver high with FSB. From the bios you can select 1.7v if you need more vdd
