let's not hold our breath, with the long list of titles lucas has milked... this guy is king of kicking a dead horse (or maybe a horse that needs to be put down). i do hope it is as good as it looks though :).

Yeah man! I loved the JK2 Outcast...and I have been waiting for this! It will be a hit. but what I don't get is why does it take a whole month before it gets to the retail stores? All of the other games that I have seen go gold only take a couple weeks before they are on the shelves. why a month?

I think this should have been delayed and moved to a newer engine - ala Doom 3?

or does someone have plans for JK based on that? :santa2:

JK2 was awsome....but I must say I was slightly dissapointed that JK3 is on the same engine as JK2. However, if they make a JK4, I will be very very happy. :D

I just beat it with both the light and dark side.. It plays exactly like the dark knight games before it.

One thing to remember, take your time to pick what kind of saber you want when you advance, because you can't change it once you pick it.

The endings are very lame though.. =/

You mean that you have just beat Jedi Knight 3? How did you get it so early?

I was a beta tester

are the graphics any better than JK2? I know it uses the same game engine but i was hoping that they might have tweaked up the graphics a bit.

BTW...how many hours did it take for you to beat it?

The quality of the graphics are all on the same level as of Jedi Knight II. The game wasn't fully rendered, so the graphic weren't complete.

It was very short. I say maybe 10-13 hours of actual play time to beat. I played jedi level though. Four levels of difficult to choose and jedi is above the lowest(padawan). Even though it is short, it was enjoyable.

I hating the multiplayer because most servers where lightsaber only. IT was lame as hell having 30 people in a deathmatch swinging lightsabers at each other and missing 95 percent of the time.

maps with pits of death+force grip= teh win :)

Also, I recommend getting this one level for it where you light saber battle I think 100 or so people and then duel with tyrenax or whatever. Gawd im gonan go start a new game when Im done with theis crappy summer work

W3rd... Nothing more satisfying that gripping and swingin' em' over the edge. I was quite partial with the pull/push wars on pit maps until it got out of hand. Then it REALLY got out of hand with the pull+BS.

Definatly gonna' pick this up.

Been playing this over the last couple days and compared to Jedi Outcast which i completed the days before i started on Jedi Academy, it's a better game. The graphics ARE better even though it uses the same engine (more or less). The engine have been modified some so it's not that bad. Small objects are not heavy detailed but it's ok anyway. Same forcepowers as JK2 but they added a few more and cool powers like drain, dark rage etc.

Dont know about advancement and new sabers yet, but i am looking forward to getting the saberpole. It also seems it's not possible to get to fight with 2 seperate sabers as shown in many previews. That was a cheat in the beta, but it have later been ruled out of the final game for some reason. Atleast thats what i read someplace the other day :)
You do however get to ride Taun Taun's, speeders, etc :)

Conclussion: If you liked any of the other DF games, you won't want to miss this one.
Fo added gameplay, ignore the regular weapons when you can, and go lightsaber all the way, they added even more saberstyles in JK3 and i still see new attacks after the first 10-12 levels :)
Have fun.

No, I think the lack of the twin sabers in that beta was just due to it being a beta. The twin sabers were still in multiplayer, and there was the twin saber style if you cheated with setforceall - he just did all the moves with one saber and an empty other hand. Man, if they cut out dual sabers after all that, I think there'd be a lot of unhappy thoughts directed at the devs, along with a lynch mob or two. ;)

And... yeah, I have a feeling they'll do it on Doom 3's engine. Or that they'll at least be doing it on one of the newer game engines for the next in the series... with any of those bad boys coming out in the next few months, JK4 would be purty. I just think (hope!) they won't kill the JK series after this, especially in favor of all those other SW games that have been released in the last couple years. KOTOR nonwithstanding...

What are you talking about? I think you're about the only person I've heard saying that the star wars story is getting old...

Anyhow, the ability to weild 2 light sabers is going to be in it. That's one of the biggest things about the game. It says so on their main website.

What is NOT going to be in the game is the ability to split a dual-bladed light saber into two separate light sabers. They were thinking of putting that in, but they ruled it out because it would negate having to undergo training for the ability to use two light sabers at once, as a fighting-style.

But I certainly do hate how the Star Wars games always have screenshots of where they are using cheats, such as in KOTOR, they have screenshots of a person being a Jedi on Taris... well, Taris gets destroyed before you even become a Jedi...

I don't know. But what I DO know is that Jedi Academy is going to look SOOOOOO tight on my HDTV :D

Aphex: i sincerely hope you're wrong about the twin-sabers thing... that's the only reason I plan on putting any $ into this game (if I do at all; i'm still waiting for Knights of the Old Republic)

quite frankly JO didn't live up to my expectations... it's okay if you play sinlge player and just skip to the maps where you dual dark jedi but other than that it's quite boring... and the saber system is STILL hit and miss. at least in JK i could easily get 200 kills in an MP game in an hour and a half (ahhh, back in the days of 56k IP games with guys from Massassi.net)

anyhow, i'll have to play it before I buy it.... I pre-ordered JO and regretted paying the full price (should've waited for a sale) so i don't want taht to happen again. (especially now that money is tighter for me)

Turning the double saber into two sabers was considered, but we decided against it because that defeats the purpose of choosing the two-saber fighting style.

Which means that the two-saber fighting style is going to be in the game. You just can't turn a double bladed saber into two light sabers.
