My cpu used to be a little warm, so i took it off the HS to find that it had the infamous adhesive PAD, so i scraped it off, cleaned with degreaser and alcohol, cleaned off all the gunk. Then applied some thermal grease, to the die and the 2 other chips on the side, reapplied he HS. Now during a load, lie drag and drop 500+meg files it reboots itself with no message?? I think that it is because its maybe not seated right on the HS maybe some of it is not touching? Cause i got a slot with those little metal clips holding the chip down, maybe they are not as tight?? what u think
whats the temp? did you try lapping the HS ,at least do that i lapped my HS and i couldnt believe how convex it was, took ten minutes of stroking with 1200 wet\dry done wet to get it down. wouldha been one hlla gap to fill will Artic Silver

i cant check the temp-my mobo wont work with any of the MBM programs that i can find. No I didnt lap. I dont wanna take the HS off again cause the little metal clips are bout to break and i always scratch the chip. Gonna get a 1 gig in the mail-from pricewatch. so ill lap the nes HS that i but wiht the Chip?? see if that helps

no temps in the BIOS, my mobo is a kadoka-from gateway-i have NO WAY of checking my temps-i put a fan porinting at the backside of the chip-side opposite of the HS and not 1 rebnoot since-o well, still think im gonna get a aftermarket HSF, maybe a new mobo socket set-thinking of a tbird 900 and a FIC AZ11E??

This won't prevent you from installing a thermocouple in the base of the heat sink. I believe that was described in some detail recently on the main page. If not, check around I am sure someone here can offer advice on the proceedure. There's more than one way to skin this kitty.

i wanna lap it but-those clips that hold it on are on their last leg-all bent up-that could be some of the problem-not pressing hard enought to make good contact-whats the GOOD-BEST HSF combo for a slot athlon??
