Is it possible to have the multiplier above 12.5x on the AMD XP 2000+? I got a Tbred B and it won't boot when I change the multiplier to 13x. Thanks.

It's the mobo. All thoroughbreds are unlocked but nForce2 mobos see all multipliers other mobos may not, for example
2500+ or 1700+ you'll get the multipliers from 5 to 12.5
2700+ or 2800+ you'll see the mulitpliers from 12.5 to like 22

Wait, we're talking about not being able to change multipliers at all.

You say you go to 13 and it won't boot, that's different.
It won't boot at any FSB with 13 multi?

(post those specs)

You have to set the 5th multiplier bit to HI which will give your multi another x8, so if u set x5 it will actually be x13. Now there are many ways to do that, and I'm pretty sure you can find them all in the sticky at the top of the page.

I'll do a little searching and edit the post with links I find...

You have to cut the 5th L3 bridge to do that, here's the link to how to safely do this, better read the whole thread.

c627627,
I was able to use multiplier from 8x to 12.5x (have not tried any lower than 8x). Only when I tried to raise it to 13x then it would not boot at all. I read the FAQ. It said 2000+ and under have access to 5.5x - 12.5x and 2100+ and up have access to 13x and up. It said something about unlocking to have access to lower multiplier but I want more.

The Coolest,
Thanks for you reply. I will look into it. I am just not ready to modify the CPU yet.

Aha, but you did lower your FSB when you increased the multi to 13, right?

Then again if you had an ABIT NF7-S you could access all multi's on all T-breds or Bartons. But as long as you have access to under 13 then your set cause who want's high multi's anyway?

I believe I tried 13x with the default 133MHz and it did not boot.

The problem is that I don't have good memory yet. I am using Samsung PC2100 and was only able to go to 160MHz. It seemed stable at 160MHz x 12.5 so I wanted to try 13x when it stopped booting and required a CMOS reset. When I get my hand on good PC3200 memory, I won't be needing the 13x and up but for now I want to try it out and got stuck.

After some reading, it seems I need to blow out the 5th bridge on the L3. Have to read some more to see if that's all or I will have to do something else.
