View Full Version : This printer sucks! Help please!
hi I have an Epson Stylus Photo 780 and I just replaced both my ink cartridges. When I went to print (this is not the first time I have replaced the ink cartridges, I've had the printer for a year and a half), everything worked as it should, but when the page printed out, nothing was on it! I even watched the printheads go back and forth, but no ink came out! I remembered to take off the tabs that say "remove before printing" and everything, and that was the only reason I could think of that would explain the problem. I even updated the drivers and reinstalled the printer software, and still it didn't work. If anyone has any idea what I can do to fix this, please let me know.
As far as Epson and I are concerned, I will never buy another ink jet product from them again. Crappiest tech support ever. ($10 charge just to talk to someone, BEFORE I pay long distance for a phone call? I think not...)

Take some peroxide on a q-tip and run that over the heads. The bubbling action may dislodge anything that could be blocking the ink output.
Also, make sure there is no residue on the little circuit board on the cartrage or on the cartrage holder..
That's all I can come up with at the moment.. Becides trying to return them to where you got them and telling them the problem..

Have you tried running the head cleaning & alignment utility as the heads could be blocked?
I have to disagree with you on the tech side, if you go through their website and mail them it is free, it just takes a little longer to solve the problem. Worked for me and I haven't had any charges for it, didn't even have to give any details apart from which model it was.
Also when i got my 1290 photo, I bought it box damaged, got it home and it didn't work, so I phoned them, they picked it up FOC and 3 days later I had it back in perfect working order. The only other problem I've ever had was a screw in the feed mech which I hadn't notice that I had dropped in there!.
Good luck

Okay, I did the head cleaning and print head alignment through the software... but still it prints without ink. (ie nothing on paper)
How do I go about cleaning w/ peroxide? Do I have to take the entire friggin' thing apart to get to it?

Make sure that the electrical contacts between the cartridge and printer are being made, and that the cartridges are locked in. Get out your instructions and try removing and inserting the cartridges following exactly what they say.
