like to host a webserver?? If you want to host a webserver, you need a program like apache (http://www.apache.org). You install it and configure it and voila, your hosting a webserver. The way people get onto it is by typing your ip in so http://(ip here), but since ips change and they're harder to remember, you can go to http://www.no-ip.com to get your free url redirector. It would redirect something like http://username.no-ip.com to your ip.

if you are talking about a webhosting business like geocities type, you are going to want to go all out with t1 lines, gas generator backup, redundant servers, file backups, climate control environment, etc... it can get extremely costly. i am sure skip would know how much it would be... i believe he runs a hosting business...

You can certainly go the t1 route and setup servers. (If i had the money I would love to go this route) but, MOST of the Hosting businesses you find on the web are actually resellers selling services of places like Alabanza, Valueweb.

I Provide hosting as part of my business and I rent server space and bandwidth which I resell. The key is finding a place that provides the services you want and can handle your traffic all for a good price. I'm very happy and my customers are getting top notch speeds.

The market is pretty saturated with resellers at this point so i'm not sure you can really make too much money at it these days unless you are already established.

If you have any more questions feel free to PM me -- I can help you set something up.
