I need to find two of these. I just ordered one raptor and I'm going to order another soon, I need/want to use these for a little while through an older ide connection, but I can't find any converters. All anyone seems to sell are PATA -> SATA converters.

Please, I need to find one of these sometime soon.

I'm wondering if I can just pick up a converter meant to let me use a pata drive on an sata controller and turn it around with gender changers. The bridge chip on the converter could or should just be blindly converting between sata and pata bus commands both ways.

If anyone has the hardware to test this, could you do it and let me know how it turns out?

Couldnt you use a SATA controler card ?

Newegg has some (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?)

Directron has some (http://www.directron.com/satcon.html)

I have two sata controller cards actually. Thing is, I have two external sata drive chassis also. They run external sata to the back of either of the two controllers I have, and its all supposed to support hotswap. Thing is, inside the chassis they only connect pata drives. So the Raptors can't go into those chassis...

The sad part is I only wanted to benchmark from in the chassis, compare it to scores directly connected to the internal connectors on the card. I've altered by benchmarking plans though, since I have come to the conclusion there is no way to accomplish what I want to accomplish.

I suppose when I'm finished I'll link the review(s) in this thread.
