i posted this question before,it was read a lot but no answers the question was i i have a radeon 64 meg ddr running at 183 mhz if i raise my fsb up to 120 from 100 because its so far unlockable with the pencil ,the agp slot itself would be raised 6mhz i think and if so does that change the processer speed on the radeon and if so how much. the reason im asking is because i have blew a few cards buy running my 900 at 1080(120 fsb)then i overclocked the graphics card (alot) a geforce 2mx.voodoo 5000 and then another gforce 2 mx and i seem to have killed them i dont want to do the same to the radeon

I don't know enough about the design of graphics cards to answer with any certainty, but here's my reckoning:

I don't think it will change the core speed at all, but if you raise the fsb as well as ocing the card then you're placing strain not just on the core and video RAM but on the whole of the card. It would seem therefore that you're increasing the chances of some part of the card failing, as the whole thing is running out of spec. I dunno whether this is right (maybe the core speed is increased), but I'd be interested in hearing the answer from someone who knows. It's something I've thought about myself before, but couldn't come up with a definite answer.

When you are referring to the increased AGP speed that goes hand in hand with an increased FSB, you are talking about the transfer rate of the AGP slot. It does put additional strain on the output from your video card but will not change internal workings of the card (i.e. core speed and memory clock speed).

thanks for the input but im still wondering other than the ram what other parts of the card would i have to worry about failing because im just about to go all out with a bigger hsf and hs on the ram.i dont think there is anything else i can do, is there?

if you up the FSB till the card is out of spec it can strain it a little more-but that is a good card and can probly handle it-look around at www.tweakfiles.com and check the vidwo section-there are many programs that allow secret menus for video card to be opened up. They will let u raise the core mhz, and the mem mhz-i went from 100 to 125 on the core and from 125 to 160 on the mem-check it out
