Yes you heard me right, theres a special at Compusa. That Geforce4 mx440 is $80 minus $30 in rebates. Whats special about that its made by Maddog and the rams clocked at 500MHz  regular mx440s should be at 400MHz, the mad dog one is a plus edition. one guy got it to 320/720  I wish I could buy it but I need to save my funds but you guys can try that, if you get a good overclock on it and your cpu is high end, you should break 9k easy, maybe........even 10k  also isnt it true if you get a really good oc like 375/700 it can match a stock ti4200 in older dx7 games?

Here's the specs, look at the ram speed.
Platform: PC
Type of Video Card: 2D/3D Video w/TV Support
Slot Type: AGP
AGP Support: AGP 4X
AGP 8X
Chipset Brand: NVIDIA
Chipset: GeForce4 MX 440-8X
Installed Video Memory: 64 MB
Memory Technology: DDR
RAMDAC Speed: 350 MHz
Max Resolution: 2048 x 1536
Refresh Rate at Max Resolution: 75 Hz
Does the step up to 8X for these help them any?? Last I remember, the MX440's were marginally better than GF2 MX400's, and worse than GF3 Ti500's (let alone a GF4 Ti4XXX).
I got a 4X AGP Maddog MX440 64MB card last year....it's nothing to really write home about, IMO. To tell you the truth, I was so impressed with it, I had it in my server for a long while, running UT2003....UT2003 dedicated server, that is....:p
(UT2003 dedicated server runs from a DOS prompt...;) )
Frankly, I'd save up and pony up the dough for a $99 Ti4200, or FX5200.
My $.02

I'm betting it would beat an FX5200 for half the price.

doubt it...
FX isn't that bad when coupled with a descent CPU to carry it on its back.... :P

the mx440 would beat a 64 bit fx5200 or maybe a 128 bit one at stock assuming you have an mx440 that clocks very high. reguardless, the sales probably over by now and additionally this would be a good bragging chance at 10k marks. I would take a ti200 instead for games anyhow, I only give praises to the maddog mx440 because of how high one guy got it to, said its like a ti4200 to him minus dx8, go figure
well i need some more money to go for better card, ram on mine was 512MHz (stock).
Wish i can buy FX5900 mmmmmmm....

From what I've been reading, the FX5200 falls somewhere in between the MX440 and Ti4200, performance-wise. The Ti4200 is better than the FX5200.
I'm thinking my next vid card upgrade will be a 9700 Pro. It's just slightly behind the FX5900 performance-wise, but a lot cheaper now that the 9800 Pro is out.

Unless you just really love to 3dmark (like OC550), then spend the extra few bucks for even the 5200. I ran a MX440 for a while and I was entirely unimpressed, even when I was hitting 8k with it.
Personally I think the 9500 Pro is still a good deal at 160.
