I am trying to setup XP Pro on my dad's new hard drive (Western Digital 60GB), which he just purchased. Its an old Compaq running at 500MHz and has 256MB of SDRAM. When I insert the XP CD and boot up, it prompts me to press a key to setup. So, I go into setup, format, and let the first part of setup run. Then, the screen states that the comp will restart in 15 seconds and continue through setup. The comp then restarts. This is where the problem begins. Instead of the comp going into the second stage of setup, the comp again prompts me to Press a key to enter the First stage of setup again. If I dont press a key, I get a hard disk boot error, and I haev to restart. XP has been setup on this comp before, but why wont it now? Why wont the comp enter the second part of setup?
