I'm looking around for shops that ship to the US, and I'm
considering purchasing directly from A-DATA. Can anyone that
knows of memory shops that carry A-DATA please post their
links here so we can all consider them?

Also, if there is enough interest, I might just purchase the
6 minimum from A-Data direct (if I can find the link), and sell
the ones I don't use. Shouldn't be too hard to sell, but I'm
just kinda feeling out the market to see if you guys would
be interested. I don't mind putting the money up at all. I think
I could afford six sticks this week!

Hold your horses. I may have a great US vendor for you this week
or in a couple days. I WILL keep you all informed. As soon as I know, you will know cause I want some too. I'll be in contact with the gentlemen today.

I ordered mine from overclockers.co.uk.... about $175US shipped for 2x256. US was listed on the ship to page so there was no fussing around.

Yeah, that's the one that was recommended to me, but I bet
there are better prices out there.

$363 USD that beats:

$380 Corsair pc4000 (not by much)
$465 OCZ Gold pc4000 (by a whole lot)

and....this mem is supposed to beat them all in high fsb.

Yeah, it sure sounds like a good price. I just hope it works out

There's a good review of the stuff over at Overclockers Australia (http://www.overclockers.com.au/) .

The ADATA PC4000 Review (http://www.overclockers.com.au/article.php?id=194595) involves testing of 12 256MB modules. 4/12 (33%) were able to reach 277MHz (DDR555) and remain stable enough to pass all runnings of Memtest-86. 10/12 modules (83%) were able to reach above 270MHz (DDR540) and remain as stable as can be. Timings for the overclocks was a strange 3-4-4-5 (performance might have been better at 3-4-4-8).

The main things ADATA has going for it (with it's DDR500) is proven high-overclocking performance (DDR600 when water-cooled to extreme) and it's low price when compared to less-proven Corsair/Kingston. The main thing going against ADATA is the inaccessibility to those in the US.

As of now, the cost to purchase 512MB (2x256MB) ADATA DDR500 (shipped to the US) is $172.87 (108.80 GBP). This is $18 more then 2x256MB of GeIL Ultra-Platinum DDR500. It is also $16 less then Kingston/Corsair DDR500. Shipping across the Atlantic Ocean adds $14.14 (8.90 GBP) to the price ($158.59 - $99.80 GBP) of 2x256MB ADATA DDR500. (Prices were from Overclockers.Co.Uk or NewEgg.Com)

More about the price of ADATA DDR500. (for those who don't wish to search)

In Japan, the stuff (ADATA 256MB DDR500) is selling for around 7,800 Yen, with low prices of 7,777 Yen ($65.57). It might be available for cheaper, but I couldn't find it.

In China, however, ADATA 256MB DDR500 is selling slightly cheaper. I've heard of prices quoted at 530 Yuan ($64). But the lowest sales site I saw was 560 Yuan ($67.66).

This is compared with English prices of 59.90 Pounds ($79.21). I havn't found a good deal from an Aussie site, but I'm sure one is out there.

These are all without shipping, but what you generally see is that the stuff is quite cheap. Selling in the high $60's in Asia, if you have the opportunity to have the memory shipped from Japan for around 7,800 Yen ($65.75) plus shipping, you have a great buy. Around $140-$150 for 2x256MB (512MB) of good-quality proven PC4000.

This stuff runs best at higher voltage then most Abit mobo's can handle though. Stock (reported someplaces) of 2.85Volts.

Hehe, Hardware Gods. Rockin!

Thanx again TechTones. I'm checking it out now!

Lonely Raven
08-19-03, 10:29 PM
Um, ouch!

I think I'd rather order it from a UK site, get it sooner then
their expected date, and pay almost half of what they are
asking for it.

Um, yeah.

Speed_Mechanic2
08-19-03, 10:32 PM
$127.50 a pop for 256MB, that's kinda high. Corsair and Kingston DDR500 are selling for $190 for 2x256MB ($95 each). and part of the whole run for ADATA is for their low price.

Buying from Overclockers.Co.Uk, and paying $172 for 2x256MB shipped across seas seems more feasible. Hopefully this Hardwaregoods.net will bring their price down, or someone on these boards will buy some direct from ADATA.COM.TW and sell some.

TechTones
08-19-03, 11:04 PM
Ok those prices were WRONG!

I wrote the guy and his partner put them up too soon. They are wrong!

hey can u give me the links for the asian sites? I just ordered some from the uk sellers and the total is $172. Hoping i can get cheaper from the other sites

Lonely Raven
08-19-03, 11:47 PM
That's closer to realistic. Still high, but the dudes have to
make some money on them.

I'm still going to look into buying a batch of them myself and
selling the extras in the forums.

OcLinNoob
08-19-03, 11:54 PM
whats the minimum if u buy direct from them?

TechTones
08-19-03, 11:57 PM
Yes he needs to feed his family. Don't forget about overhead, import and shipping fees, customs. I once ordered overseas and the package got lost. They all gave me a run around cause I'm in the US.

I'll never order outside of the country again unless it's just too good to pass up.

Bumparoonie

I've contacted all the Aussies that were mentioned or wrote
that ADATA review that we all (hopefully) read. They don't
have any sources for ADATA memory. They didn't even know
that you could get it in the UK. (They probably didn't care).

I got my phat paycheck this morning from all the overtime I've
been doing, so I'm going to call ADATA USA office this afternoon
and see if I can purchase directly.

If I wind up buying the minimum of 6 sticks, I will post here
when I get them to give you all a heads up that I'm selling the
spares in the Classifieds here.

Great find , thanks for the link to hardware gods, just preordered a 512 stick and can't wait to try it out

THanks a million tech tones

Lonely Raven
08-22-03, 04:32 PM
Hey Hefner, you might be wasting your money on one 512MB
stick!!

Because nForce2 boards need low latency and most nForce2
boards can't break 225FSB, PC-4000 is almost worthless for
them.

And on the Canterwood/Springdale side unless your running
dual channel, your throwing away 20% of your performance,
at least!

Seriously, I hope you ordered correctly. While you'd be able
to sell off that memory easily enough, thats less time for
you to be playing with those HIGH SPEEDS!!

On a lighter note. I contacted ADATA and was told in very
bad English that they couldn't sell to end users directly, but
managed to fanagle a deal for a half-dozen sticks of memory
due to me being a motherboard tester for DFI.

I hope to have my six sticks by the end of next week!

Too bad that OCZ deal that SpeedMechanic posted turned out
to be bogus. And doubly bad that the *******s charged my card
even after I canceld the order. Otherwise I'd be able to pick
up another half dozen sticks and share them with you guys!!

Thanx for posting the deal anyways Speed. Hopefully OCZ will
come down to those prices sometime soon.

i have tryed on NF7-S, the highest bus i can do is 240mhz stable 2-3-4-5 cpu int enable, so not so good with 3.2v

my kingston hyperx PC3500 can do also 240mhz 2-2-3-5 cpu int enable DC stable, much better... around 200mb/s of difference in bandwidth

Good News!

I got my ADATA today. I'm testing the 512MB sticks first in my
DFI Springdale board (non-LAN Party) and then I'll run them in
my LAN Party board later tonight or tomorrow.

Bad News...

I got laid-off yesterday. So I'm probably going to be selling some
if not all of this memory. For the cost of this memory, I could
almost pay rent for a month. And since with the loss of my
job, I also lose my nice little company car, I'm going to be
needing to dig up some money right quick to fix up my old SAAB.

Keep an eye in the Classifeds for some of this memory. I might
take a few days to test it before I sell it, so just keep an eye
out. In the mean time, Dracula from Portugal seems to have
some to sell.
