View Full Version : Jumper or jumperless mode less aggro with A7V?
I got a 750 Duron here, unlocked. If I can actually get the computer to turn on it's rock solid at 1.7V 900 with jumperless mode. I can choose any speed below that without problems, in fact I am writing this at 500, 1.5V (!)
Trouble is when I turn off the computer at 900, it doesn't work again unless I turn off the power switch after trying to reboot, and on again. It says that computer didn't boot because of some problem with the settings.
Well, my unlocking has worked, I think my chip will handle 950 easy, and that the A7V is just messing me about... I've still got an extra 0.15V to play with to reach the gig. Does the jumper mode work without this crap?

Go ahead and use jumper free mode, but set your voltage with the jumpers. It doesn't matter if you leave it in jumperfree mode, the voltage will still set itself to what you set the jumpers to. The A7V and A7V133 both have the problem where they can manage to change either the CPU speed or the CPU core voltage on a reboot cycle with no problems. BUT if you try to change both, it will not work.
Just set the voltage manually with jumpers and then leave the voltage set to Auto in the BIOS. The jumper settings override the CPU's normal voltage setting as the default. I can pretty much guarantee this will fix your problem. I've owned a total of 4 A7Vs and 2 A7V133s and all exhibited this phenomenon.
Thanks Nagorak, one of seven (that read my post!) this method is looking good, have tested it out at 1.7V 900MHz, and it's starting properly... did your manual give the impression that the jumpers were up a different way to what they are on the board too? ;)

I had the same problem as you when using jumperfree mode. I eventually just abandoned using it and went to jumper mode, and everything worked fine. Got a duron 700@ 1000 mhz running along just nicely now :)
