View Full Version : Another temp question
HI, I'm running a 1.2gig t-bird clock@1440 with a voltage of1.795, on a a7v133 Asus board,I have 2 case fans, and a FOP38 CPU fan.And using prime95 the cpu runs around 118-120F and 108-111F idle is this ok? The heat sink is lapped and I am using Arctic silver coumpoud. If not should I try the swiftech HS or maybe better case cooling? Please help, Rick[]
it is not necessarily bad enough to warrent spending another $50.00 on a new heatsink, if you are running stable then dont worry about it, at worst it will cut the life expectancy of your chip, but we are talking only about 6 months or so on a chip that will last 2 years, by then you certainly will have a new one anyway
ps- good oc
Thanks for the reply, I think I just found out what a good part of the problem is not enough case cooling even though I have 2 case fans, I think I will invest in some higher cfm case fans.Right now just being on the net its running 113f.
take your cover off and point a table top fan at a 45degree angle into your case and see what happens ;D
Thanks again for the help .The majority of the problem lies in the actual case cooling . There aren't enough vent holes in the front panel,I get a 5 degree change when I remove the front panel ,and a good 10-12 change when I take the side panel off. So I think I will add some more vent holes on the front and add a blow hole on the side with a 120mm fan.I think that should do the trick, I would appreciate any input on my idea. thanks Rick
I'm going to mount one fan across from the proc. (Intake) and another exhusting out the top.For now i'v been doing what Katz suggested and it works real well for a cheap quick fix.
Well I did some mods to the case today I put a 80mm across from the cpu and I also bought 2 hard drive coolers that fit in the drive bays wich added 4 more fans not to much xtra cooling there but I will use them later when I get my other drive, also I added more vent holes to the front.Running prime95 for 2 hours the temp only got up to 111f a good 10f cooler.I think I might a yet another 80mm below the other.
