View Full Version : what would be a normal idle temp?
what would be a normal idle temp for a t-bird 1000mhz (10x100)
on an Abit KT7 with modified Alpha PEP66 + delta fan (appr. 4900 rpm)?
My case temp is 16°C.
low to mid 30's would be a good idle temp for that setup.
case temp 16c thats nice !!! at that temp 22-28 would be my guess stock speed and volts?

Yeah, I reckon Kat's about right. Difficult to tell, but with a case temp of 16C I'd be looking for load temps around 40C - definitely not too much higher at stock speed and voltage with a PEP66. Idle around or below 30 would be good then :-)
well, here's the freaky thing.
you might have read this somwhere on the forum before,
but my idle temps were allways about 25°C,
and now they are allways 38°C.
So i don't get where this hight temp is coming from.
I've changed nothing, and nothing is running in the background.
When i startup windows the cputemp is 34°C, and then it goes
slowly up to 38°C..... can something be broken?
My load temps are still the same, at the low forty's.
Someone told me it could be a virus, that's running something in the
background i can't see??
Someone any opinion about this?
who actually CARES about idle temps? Load temps are the only ones that matter at all. All they do is give some people a deception to talk about - "my 1.333 runs at 28c" - yeah, at idle!! It's just silly, it really is.
I just whant to know why my idle temp is now allway at 38°C instead of 36°C
It must mean there is something going wrong in there, am i right?
I only want to know what it could be.
I'm runnig at standard setting now,
and if I wouldn't be using a PEP66 but a standard cooler,
and my casetemp wouldn't be 16°C but 10°C higher,
my idle temps would be ALOT higher, maybe 53°C instead of 38°C.
This means my load temps would be much higher too...
Something is whrong here, you can't ignore that!!!!!!!
All I want to know is this: what made my idle temp go 12°C higher?
my first line should have been "allways at 38°C instead of 26°C".
Sorry ;-)
Idle high 30's celsius and hit low 40's celsius under full load. Case temp runs in the low 20's. 1.85 core and 3.85 i/o. 1200@1430 (130x11) Which is not bad considering the pc-100 dram. <g>.

holy crap 3.85 i/o you better run for cover at that voltage somthing`s going to give ;D ;D ;D
i would say that your high idle temps might have somthing to do with case cooling or room temp
to check for stuff running in the back ground ctrl-alt-del every thing except system tray and explorer then start up your temp prog and see if there is a change
maybee the sensor has fallen out of calibration...
Have you run MSCONFIG to make sure all programs are off(except systray and explorer)? I read your other post and you mentioned that the temp goes down sometimes when you are doing stuff. Mine does that too, if i'm running prime95 alone it goes up to about 48-52'C, if I run 3dmark2k with it, it drops down some. Do you have SETI installed on your comp? I read that you can set it up to only run when the comp is idle, so when you start doing stuff the temp may drop a little as SETI stops doing it's thing. Hey, if all else fails, you can always format... :) Good luck

Someone told me there might be a problem with the ACPI-function
in Windows. Since my Windows was becoming quite a mess,
is reinstalled Windows, and now everything is back to normal.
My casetemp is at this moment 17°C and my cputemp 21°C.
I don't really know what happened, but i'm glad everything's back to normal.
Thanx everybody for helping me!! :-)
