I am new to overclocking and would be grateful for some help.
I have a Duron 750 and a Fic AZ11E mother board and would like to know arew these good for overclocking, and what speeds would i be looking at.
I already know about using conductive pen to unlock the L1 on the Duron.
What else shoul I know.
Thanks.
what else? read more... like anyone of us... :-) :-) :-)

At first, you donīt have to unlock your Duron, First see, what the FSB can do for you. I am not familiar to your MOBO, what Voltages and FSBīs does it support - just curious. Youīll always get higher System Performance from a higher FSB!
Good luck

Thanks ranger
here comes the idea; First, I would burn in the CPU; let the system runs at 5x100=500mhz at maximum core voltage, 1.85V and 3.9v I/O, full load under prime 95 for at least about 24hr. Then get the system back to 7.5x100=750mhz at default voltages, 1.7v core and 3.4v I/O. Begin Ocing... by doing the L1 bridge, lower the Multiplier to 5.5, increase fsb to 133mhz, supposed that board support 133mhz+ fsb and good PC133 RAM, that gets to 5.5x133=730mhz. Then gradually increase the FSB and Multiplier to OC the system. The key here is to increase the FSB as high as possible while keeping the Multiplier as low as you can. EX: 5.5x133mhz=730mhz system is better than 7.5x100mhz=750mhz system. Have fun with your Duron. I think, in general, most normal Duron could get about 200-250mhz more than its original setting, more or less than that, it called LUCK and FANCY... stuffs like... Peltier cooling, high performance RAM. IF your 750 Duron is the late batch AKCA of 2001, you would not have problem to get up to 1G, I also hope that your mobo is good for OCing. I did the same with my 800 duron, AKCA week 07 of 2001. Initially, It could not do more than 8x100 but after what I had done, now It is 7x145=1015mhz :-) :-) :-) runnning without a single glitch... Happy Ocing... :-) :-) :-)

I have a duron 650 on the FIC AZ11-E and it is running @ 900 no problem. unlock your L1 bridges and then read the manual on tjhe mobo carefully. you have to set 2 jumpers to disable to use the dip switches for the multiplier and the voltage. dont bother trying the 133 FSB jumper....won`t work. I can only get 103 FSB on the board so I just run it at 9x100 @ 1.8volts
The beauty of Ocing is of High FSB, I prefer not to get a mobo that does not support 133mhz+ FSB to do OC. Go get the New Abit KT7E for about $100 and go as high as 147mhz FSB... cheap and fun... :-) :-) :-)
Everything that I've read about the AZ11E has been good, I have an AZ11 and must say it's been stable, although the original AZ11's didn't have the multiplier adjustments.
The AZ11E uses the KT133 chipset and therefore is subject to the limits experienced by users of this chipset on other boards. Namely the inabilty to achieve very high FSB speeds. It is said that this chipset is only good for FSB's in the range of 107 / 110 max., But the combination of multiplier adjustments and the limited FSB, you still should be able to get to 1gig. I have a DURON 600 @ 1100 ( 110*10) on an ASUS A7V also with the KT133 chipset.
Do your homework, pay attention, and make sure that you have a good heat sink / fan combination and you chould be able to do good with your combination.
A good place to start with your homework is on the homepage of this site in the beginers guide.
Good luck!
