I have an PEP66t cooler on the Iwill kk266-r board top mount.
chip on OCing to 1.444 runs at idle teomp. of 42 degrees celcius nad using prime95 it goes as high at 51 degrees celcius sometimes.
is this accesptable?
I tried to OC it to 1.5 but prime 95 fails, but sisandra runs flawlessly for days.

Thanks for your help.

When you throw in a statement like "without further expense", you, unfortunately limit your options. I guess you could try lowering your case temp or the temp of the room it's in, but that's about it. Software "halt-on-idle" programs won't help you at high cpu loading like Prime 95 causes.

Which BIOS are you running. If it's the latest one, you can do the wpcredit trick and set register 52 to 'EB'. That will cool down your idle a bunch. I'm using a PEP66/KK266 and 1.333/266 AXIA and my idle temps are 28c and max of 45c. Antec case w 4 fans. If your still using the BIOS that came with the board, you have other problems. Are you sure that the heatsink is making optimal contact? A pep66 can be installed backwards!
Have you tried Arctic Silver? (cheap but not free).
