Is that a 1.0 GHz Athlon Thunderbird? You can't use retail cooling, those things get real hot...

Try clearing CMOS and let things cool down.

You can't just crank things up. You need just a little patience to overclock. All systems don't overclock the same. It is possible to OC a little with what you have but not a whole much, 300 MHz overclock will be a strech here...

Hehehe. Welcome to the forums.

We will help you.

Overclocking a 1.0 GHz Thunderbird by 300 MHz with retail cooling may kill your chip so you would be wise to find your mobo manual, or download it here

then read it for 5 minutes. It will help you greatly.

Most people would advise against overclocking a Thunderbird with retail cooling because you won't get far without your CPU overheating.

If you still want to do it, note that you may be able to get just a little bit of an overclock out of it, certainly not 300 MHz.

CMOS can be reset on your particular mobo by switching jumper JP4 to Pins 1-2 then putting it back to pins 2-3.

JP4 is under the middle PCI slot, next to the little battery.
