Hi ya, I just got myself a new PC and am a complete newbie to overclocking. I read the tut on the main page but it doesn't answer a lot of stuff, like ratios and such. I was just wondering if someone could tell me how I would go about OC'ing my machine up to around 2.8 ghz. My setup is listed below.
TIA

Okay, first 2.8GHz is nothing.. you should do an EASY 3.0GHz.
Okay, so here's what you do..
Boot into your bios, and on the CPU screen, set the following:
250fsb
3:2 ratio
leave the CPU voltage at default for now
bump the DIMM voltage to 2.8
fix the AGP/PCI to 33/66MHz
Just leave the N/B strap set to CPU detect or whatever it is..
That's 3.0GHz right there.
You need to set a 3:2 ratio though, since you're using PC2700. -You need to get at least some PC3200 sometime in the near future.
You shouldn't have to mess with memory speeds or anything since 250 * .66 = 165MHz or 333Mhz DDR.
If you boot and run stable, then come back, and maybe we can get a lil more out of her..

Problem: I don't think I can change my ratio.

Hmmm..well I'm not familiar with that particular board, but you should be able to.

Can't seem to find it, nothing in my book either. Damnit, I hope I can change that ratio, if not, that would bite the big one.

you could possibly try just upping the dimm voltage to 2.9-3v, 3-4-4-9 timings @ 250fsb....
meh. dunno how well that will work, though, performance-wise. CAS3 usually isn't that great of a performer.
