mushkin 3500 lvl 2 black??? good buy???

is mushkin pc 3500 lvl 2 black ram any good in a nfoce2 board??? i like the timing on it a lot 2-2-2... not bad for 433 right.. some feed back is nice... thanks

It's the only memory selling that promises to run at 217MHz (DDR433) at 2-2-2 timings. But for that promise, you pay a hefty price. If price is not an issue, it's the best promised product out there. And Mushkin product support is top-notch, the best out there.

You can get more. I might get some... Mushkin black lvl 2 are also the only memory still being made with BH-5 chips because Mushkin hoarded them all, plus you get top pcb.

I think that with enough voltage the ram will scale higher then the motherboard.

dependswhich setup u are usin.. if its and nforce that runs 220-230fsb perfect.. if youre lookin for an intel setup that runs 260-280 fsb 1-1youwouldbe better off with some good pc4000

512 x 2 of it in NF7-S 2.0 at 2.9v dual sync, I get 11-2-2-2 in the 220's but if I want absolute stability I run at 11-3-2-2- or sometimes 11-3-3-2 up to around 230 fsb. 2 256's would run up to 230 at 2-2-2 I believe. Good stuff, but I don't think it will be available for long since Winbond has stopped making the BH-5 chips.

Does the level 1 Black 3500 use BH-5 chips too? I noticed it's even cheaper than the 3200 Black level 2.. I am thinking of getting one of these 2.. 3500 lvl 2 only costs like 10$ more but the place i will get it from dosen't have it.

Mushkin Black Level 1 use WinBond CH-5 chips.

The whole cause for the split was because WinBond stopped making BH-5 chips, which were in their Black Level-line before they split it into Black Level 1(CH-5) and Black Level 2(BH-5).

Ok thx.. i will stay away from the lvl 1 then.. and i guess the lvl 2 3200 is basically the same exact as the 3500 lvl 2. Is there any other good memory that is still using BH-5 chips on the new ones? I have some 3200LL that's coming but i think the new version uses CH-5.. I wonder about new XMS 3500c2 and HyperX 3500.. i am guessing none of the 3700+ memories use BH-5.

ok just got in my lvl 2 3500... i cant get my nforce2 past 205 fps.. any one know why... have tried all the banks... got an asus so i can only got to 2.8v.... should i try looser timings.. is i do what was the point of gitting this ram than... any help would be nice

It must be your motherboard if not your cpu speed.. you can't really expect getting higher than around 205 with no mods unless you can raise the Vdd on your motherboard.

ok now i can get fbs of 220 if i make the timing to cas 2 3-3.. get better score than fbs of 200 with 2-2-2.. so i will stick with this..

wth 512's you should try 11-3-3-2 in dual sync. It is the caes with any ram 2-512's much harder on the NF2 mem controller than 2-256's. Also Abit goes to 2.9v and that may help as well.

If you have any problems with Mushkin memory, by all means contact their support services. They have very friendly support people who will try to help you fix your problem

If they can't fix it, and they agree that it's the memory causing the problem, they should replace it for you, w/o cost I believe.

if you cant get 217 @ 2-2-2 check to make sure nothing is a bottleneck then get a different stick
