View Full Version : What is wrong with u all?
All u ppl are beggininning to **** me off quite a lot. When a post is there about an athlon or a p3 EVERYONE tries to help and EVERYONE helps - but if say, in my post, its about an AMD K6-2 500 being overclocked it gets ignored..
*Pulls the fingers*
Possibly because there aren't many running them anymore with Durons running $70 and Tbirds in the low to mid $100's. I've run the K6-2 and K6-3's for years and they were never impressive overclockers. Great CPU's but never made the big impression the Celerons, Durons or Tbirds did.
Fair enough mate - but thats not what im getting at - surely someone can help me - but they dont - isnt this forum made for sharing information and helping each other out?
maybe im completely wrong
I have helped quite a few people with K6-2's, I just don't know your mobo, I had my K6-2 up to 600 but I had to use an Athlon hsf to make it stable. The mobo I used was an FIC VA503+. I only ran 2.5 VCORE. You should try to use the 2X mult, (K6-2 reconise this as 6X on some boards, I had to flash the bios to do it) Sorry I can't help you more. And by the way, yelling and being mean isn't going to make more people help you.
Fiz
I agree with Fiz. I know nothing about your board either. I'm sure you are not being singled out because it's just a K62. Maybe nobody can answer your question.
This is a very helpful crowd but I have seen many questions go un-answered. I personally won't answer unless I feel i know what I'm talking about. Better to keep quiet then to give wrong advice. Giving bad advice can lead to broken parts :)
I agree with Skip, I try not to answer if I don't know anything about the problem. the only experience I've had with a K6-2 500 was on a Gigabyte board and it didnt do too well, in fact, it's back to 500mhz.

I think these guys are telling you straight. I have posted several times and not gotten a response. If no one knows the answer they may not try to advise you. For example I want to build a box specifically for win 2k adv. server but since no one here seems to be using that software no one responded. Keep the faith I have gotten alot of support here. I think you will too. I had never OC'd before coming here and if you read my sig you'll see I have been successful with my new rig.. Only because ppl here provided good advice and support...

MOJO, there is such a thing as doing a little leg work yourself. Try using a search engine like www.google.com and type in AMD K6 500. You will be suprised by how much is out there.

Ok here we go. I have a "dead" Jetway J-530BF Mobo, but befor it died it had a K6 2-500 on it till I removed the cover and chiped the core, OUCH. But up till then I had it up to 560 with NO problem,C/V @ 2.8, FSB @ 112, Mult @ 5.0. ran @ 36-38 C*. Now upgrading to a Duron sys. Good Luck.
first, jetway??? i saw one last week, was'nt something i'd buy, personally.
i have a K6-2 450 running at 504 2.2v 112/37 really solid. it's a tekram p5m3-a+ mobo
i have a gorb on it for cooling, and it seems to do fine.
i've had this up at 560 with 2.8v but it's getting warmer outside, so i backed it down. i'm building a 700 duron box now.

I loved that machine...you know, I mean no sex or nothin...heh heh...can I say sex on this board?
Phew!
